Welcome to Try-Sound,
This is the world's first online Test Station for virtual instruments and Plug-Ins. For the first time ever Best Service and SoundsOnDemand are presenting the possibility of testing virtual instruments from your home anywhere in the world by transmitting MIDI and audio over the internet.
! No Installation needed
! MIDI-Keyboard Support
! High Audio Quality
! 33 PlugIns available
! Absolutely free
System Requirements
Our remote system works on Windows only running on PCs or INTEL Macs (Mac OS is not yet supported!). Additionally we have tested CrossOver Mac successfully on INTEL Macs running the Try-Sound client (including MIDI Keyboard) without having any Windows installed :-) They offer a free 30 day trial version for CrossOver Mac here.We recommend having any MIDI- or USB-Keyboard installed, but it´s also possible to play the sounds by mouse click or by prepared MIDI-Sequences.

Registration
To use the service you will need to register first. After registration and login you will be asked to choose your startup Plug-In and select any available time slot. You can select any other Plug-In anytime during your session. After clicking you will receive a download link for our login-tool (~400kB). PopUp-Blocker have to be disabled!

Try-Sound-Session-Installer
This software needs no installation and does not modify any system settings or files. The software is only valid for one session at the requested time slot. Please save this "Try-Sound_session_XXX.exe" on your PC and double click it at the requested time to start your session.

The Try-Sound-Session
Each session is limited to 25 minutes. After your session has been terminated, you will be asked to fill out a short report of your experience. This will help us to optimize the system. Feel free to book another session if you like.

Latency and Sound Quality
The latency and sound quality depends on your internet connection. We offer several presets with latencies down to 110ms and MP3 resolutions up to 320kB/s (it should normally be possible to work with our default setting – 200ms and 128kB/s – on a 2000k connection). You can change the selection anytime during your session to find the optimal adjustment. The better your connection, the lower the latency and the higher the quality!

Technical Limits
Please notice: Try-Sound was developed as a realtime sound check system not as a realtime play/practise system!

Midi connection
A red MIDI symbol indicates that a MIDI event has been received. The sound is transferred in (nearly) real time as a MP3 stream back to your PC. There is an indispensable ongoing natural ambience in the background – sorry for that :-)

Ready-To-Play
After login the desired Plug-In should have been loaded already and will start playing a demo sequence with the first preloaded sound. You can start/stop playing by clicking the name of the MIDI Sequence. Please stop mouse moving and clicking during autoload actions

If you don´t have a keyboard connected
There are several sound presets available in the bottom line with an adapted demo sequence. If there is no Midi/USB-keyboard connected you will find some MIDI files which you can use for playing any loaded preset (although in some case it will not prove satisfactory).

Full access to all parameters
Feel free to change parameters and to load any other sound using the Plug-In´s regular interface. The autoload funktion shows you the first steps and you can find a quickstart manual for the Plug-Ins clicking the HELP symbol. You can switch to any other of our installed instruments during your session by simply clicking the product symbol in the left column.

Try before you buy!

Now have fun!

latency is too large to play by keyborad even the midi file in taiwan otherwise good job! I got more closely to the product

Not only for listen the sound, I also want to compare the sound with other vendor. So, I think, like piano, I want more VST provider to compare with each other. Good job!

Bonjour of the Reunion island This way of testing a virtual instrument its my "préférence". Its very good

Wish you could increase the time of a session a little. 25 minutes is really not enough to demo a complex instrument.

Worked very smoothly, surprisingly. A fine way to audition these instruments. More infos are needed, f.e.: are the samples full or reduced quality?

As a way to demo, this worked just fine. The audio latency didnt bother me as much as a latency in using the mouse operate the interface. Otherwise, this was a very cool way to get a handle on the instruments. Thanks. Ill try it again when I have more time.

I wish the Session are longer. It is great to try the VSTi´s without limitations before buying :)

Pretty good expereience. Im leaning more towards purchasing one of the prodcuts I tested. Im looking forward to coming back and exploring a few more things that I probably would not otherwise give consideration to because of the combination of their expense and the previous absense of a way of testing them out myself. Thanks a lot for this service.

Awesome idea!

Im quite impressed about this application and Id like to try even more sample libraries this way (provided I upgrade my internet connection). I think that the best way to audition samples is by visiting a dealer (but in some countries this is still only partially possible) followed by online playing. Downloading a demo version is not suitable (at least for me) because of long download times and listening audio demos over the internet may be deceiving in terms of sound quality (although quite informative about technicalities).

Very good experience. I tried the midi samples as well as used the mouse and virtual keyboard. Next I would like to try the midi/usb keyboard. Great way to sample the software!
